AI can be a powerful tool for content creation so you can create a blog post for your website so it will rank without having any experience or knowledge of SEO. In fact it isn’t just a great time-saver – its a great money saver too.

NOTE: You can use these methods on virtually any AI tool but in this instance we used Chat GPT’s paid for version.

In this guide, we’ll break down how to use AI on ChatGPT to write content using SEO for blog posts, covering:

  • Structuring an SEO-optimized prompt the AI can understand so it will give you a better result
  • Optimizing the content for search engines
  • Using AI to generate meta titles, descriptions, tags, and categories
  • Adding internal and external links
  • Refining AI-generated content for better readability and engagement

1. Writing an SEO-Optimized Prompt so the AI delivers the best answer

The right prompt makes all the difference! In this example I am using a pre-written prompt to ask the AI to generate a blog post for a real estate agent in Murfreesboro TN. Feel free to copy this and change it to your needs to ask ChatGPT to generate a blog post for your website. Please note I have refined this example so it is slightly different than the one used in the video tutorial.

Example Prompt:

“Write a blog post for SEO for a real estate agent in Murfreesboro/ Greater Nashville Tennessee with at least 1000 words titled “Moving to Murfreesboro? What You Need to Know”. Include SEO keywords, meta tags and meta description, categories, tags and hashtags and use the primary keyword “living in murfreesboro” and secondary keyword “relocating to murfreesboro tn” in the headings and throughout the content and follow all of All in One SEO’s page scoring guidelines to get the best seo score and interlink it with other pages and blog posts on my website including https://homes-for-sale.murfreesborohomes4sale.com/i/murfreesboro-tn-homes-for-sale, https://murfreesborohomes4sale.com/communities/houses-for-sale-murfreesboro-tn/,https://murfreesborohomes4sale.com/communities/houses-for-sale-in-franklin-tn/, https://homes-for-sale.murfreesborohomes4sale.com/i/brentwood-tn-homes-for-sale, https://homes-for-sale.murfreesborohomes4sale.com/i/nolensville-tn-homes-for-sale and include 2 external links to relevant high value domains that are relevant to the blog content.”

Why This Prompt Works

  • Specifies the Word Count: Google prefers long-form content (at least 1,000 words), so give ChatGPT a target length.
  • Defines the SEO Elements: Meta title, meta description, tags, and categories should be included.
  • Sets Keyword Usage Expectations: ChatGPT should incorporate the primary keyword naturally in headings and throughout the content. See this blog post for more info on how to research Keywords to optimize your blog post for SEO.
  • Ensures Internal & External Linking: Ask ChatGPT to add links to relevant pages on your site and authoritative external sources. Include specific links in your prompt if you can. SPECIAL TIP: Include links to pages or posts on your site that you want to also rank in Google. By interlinking your blog posts you are giving Google Juice to these links and boosting their SEO potential.
  • Optimizes Readability: ChatGPT should structure content with short paragraphs, transition words, and Using ChatGPT for SEO-friendly blog writing.

2. Refining the AI-Generated Blog Post

Once ChatGPT generates the blog, don’t just copy and paste—refine it! If you watched the video tutorial above then you know my original prompt was slightly different than the example above. That is because after I made the video, I noticed I forgot to add the Primary Keyword into the prompt so I went back and added it AND I added a secondary keyword as well. This helped Chat GPT refine the blog post so it included the SEO keywords I wanted it to rank for.

Follow these steps:

A. Check for SEO Optimization: READ the AI’s response thoroughly

  • Is the primary keyword used naturally in the first paragraph and throughout the post?
  • Are headings structured properly (H1 for the title, H2 for main sections, and H3 for sub-sections)?
  • Does the post include internal links to relevant pages on your website? If not, ask the AI to refine them and provide specific pages or blog posts on your website you would like to give some Google Juice to.
  • Are there at least two authoritative external links?

BONUS TIP: Enhancing SEO with Internal & External Links

The AI should generate internal links to related blog posts on your site. Each link should also include a Link Title and should open in a new tab or window. Example:

Make sure you manually verify these links and replace them with relevant ones from your niche.

B. Improve Readability

  • Break long paragraphs into shorter, digestible sections.
  • Include bullet points or lists
  • Use transition words to connect ideas smoothly.
  • Replace passive voice with active voice where possible.

C. Edit for Clarity & Engagement

  • Does the blog sound natural and engaging?
  • Are sentences concise and clear?
  • Does the tone match your brand voice?

3. Giving ChatGPT Specific Instructions for Edits

If the first draft isn’t perfect, refine it by giving the AI clear follow-up instructions so it will refine the content. Here are some examples:

  • “Rewrite this section to be more engaging and concise while keeping the SEO keyword intact.”
  • “Break this long paragraph into two and add a transition sentence.”
  • “Make this sentence active voice instead of passive.”
  • “Add an internal link to a related blog post on [topic].”
  • “Rephrase this to include a transition word like ‘therefore’ or ‘as a result.’”

By asking the AI to make changes, you can quickly fine-tune your post for maximum SEO impact.

Is there a simpler way to SEO my blog posts?

Well… yeah, you could just hire someone! But if you’re already putting in the effort to have AI write them, taking a little extra time to check the work to make sure they are optimized properly is totally worth it. It can make a huge difference in getting your posts to rank! Plus, the more you do it, the more natural it’ll become—eventually, you’ll start incorporating SEO without even thinking about it. Practice makes perfect, right?
