dot realtor domain names

Within the next several weeks, the .REALTOR domain extension is coming to the web. Are you ready?

Top-Level Domains and Why They Matter

You already have an amazing real estate website that gets results and all the knowledge you need to leave a trail of happy clients in your wake, but the Internet is always evolving. You always need fresh, new ideas to stand out among your competitors if you want to succeed in this business, and having a .REALTOR domain for your web address is the latest-and-greatest way to surge ahead.

A top-level domain, or TLD, is simply the characters after the “dot” in your web address, such as .com, .net and .edu.

What if you could snag a web address like MiddleTennessee.Realtor, Austin.Realtor or DC.Realtor? Your hardest-hitting keywords are built right into your domain name, and your clients aren’t going to forget it, either. Click here to see some permitted uses & rules for members.

Combine that with a spectacular, lead-generating real estate website and you’re sitting on a fantastic way to get noticed and build your brand.

The Scramble for New TLDs

It’s one thing to own a .com (or a couple of them, for that matter), but it’s something entirely different to have your target market capped with your profession as an extension. The .expert, .dental and .associates TLDs got snapped up quickly, and it stands to reason that the .REALTOR ones will be highly competitive and go fast, too.

When & where can you get yours?

.REALTOR is set to launch October 23rd, 2014. Mark your calendar for October 23rd, 2014 to go to www.claim.REALTOR to get your .REALTOR domain.

Only members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® and the Canadian Real Estate Association can call themselves REALTORS®. And only REALTORS® are allowed to use the new .REALTOR domain.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Because I’m watching for the .REALTOR names to come out, and the second they do, I highly recommend that you grab yours. They’re not going to last very long, and if you don’t get the one that works for your target market, somebody else will.

The bottom line is that I want you to succeed. I’ve never recommended anything to my clients that I wouldn’t do myself (where is the .awesomedesigner TLD?), and considering how many other professionals have snapped up TLDs specific to their fields, this looks like the next big wave in the Internet’s evolution.

When the new .REALTOR domains are released on October 23rd, I’m going to send an alert to all of my clients. Start thinking about what best reflects your business now, and be sure to mark your calendars because the race is on and these domains will not last long.
